Why it exists. My kids ask "can we go on the boat?" more mornings than not, and by the time we'd loaded the cooler and life jackets and gotten to the water, we'd sometimes find out it was too choppy to be any fun. This tool does that translation from raw marine weather into a real answer before anyone packs the car.
Boating style. "Too rough" means something different depending on who's on the boat. Glass calm, Average boater, and Chop's fine set different wind and wave thresholds behind the same verdict, so identical conditions can read as "Go" for one group and "Caution" for another.
Where the data comes from. Wind, waves, and sea surface temperature are from Open-Meteo. Tide predictions are from NOAA CO-OPS. Marine forecasts and Small Craft Advisories are from the National Weather Service. No API keys, no accounts, no ads.
