What it does. Text Detective drops students into a realistic phone chat, texts, group chats, and messages from unfamiliar numbers, and asks them to pick the smart reply. Scenarios cover four risk types: peer pressure, oversharing personal information, phishing, and scams, built for grades 5-6.
Why a phone screen. Kids don't encounter online risk as a lecture, they encounter it as a text that shows up mid-afternoon from someone claiming to be a coach, a friend, or a delivery service. Practicing the reply in a format that looks and feels like their actual phone makes the judgment call more real than a worksheet ever could.
It's a safe simulation. Every contact, message, and scenario here is fictional and self-contained. No real phone numbers, no real messages are sent, and nothing typed leaves the browser. It's a rehearsal space for spotting red flags before a similar message shows up for real.
